| Customer Reviews: Great bed! August 10, 2009 Kellie (Troy, MI United States) We've had this bed put up for a week and the kids love it. The 50 pounder on the top doesn't make the slats move at all. The bed is very, very sturdy and doesn't wiggle when they are in it. All the parts were there and it went together very fast. Delivery took only about a week. It really looks like a very nice, substantial piece of furniture.
Not safe at all out of the box May 9, 2009 Pierce 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Amazon, please change your description of the product. "No bunkie board or extra slats necessary." This is NOT correct.
The boards that ship with the product are not strong enough to hold up a fifty pound seven year old on a mattress. They bulge in a rather frightening way if she moves at all.
Maybe I made a mistake believing the description, as it's our first bunk bed, but this is definitely an unsafe product as shipped. For this much money, it should be safe to sleep on without heading to a home improvement store.
I was so furious about the weak boards, that I barely even reacted to the missing ladder latches or two types of screws that were not there. I haven't decided if I am going to try to make the product safe or send it straight back. It is an attractive piece, but NOTHING is worth my kids getting hurt. I will not trust anything from Powell ever again.
